Woodlands Water Launches Major Initiative to Revitalize Water Infrastructure, Invites Community Input
The Woodlands, Texas, September 19, 2024 – In a major effort to modernize aging water and wastewater systems, the Woodlands Water Agency in partnership with the ten Municipal Utility Districts within The Woodlands and their contracted operator San Jacinto River Authority, has launched “Water Renewal The Woodlands,” a public education initiative aimed at driving community engagement. Vital information, updates on future public events, and opportunities to provide feedback are available at www.waterrenewalthewoodlands.com.
As a part of this initiative, a public survey has been created to gather community input on the priorities for the future of water and wastewater services and programs. The public is invited to take the survey now until October 6, 2024, at www.waterrenewalthewoodlands.com/survey.
“Our goal with Water Renewal The Woodlands is to involve our customers and provide transparency in our efforts to maintain our water and wastewater systems for the next 50 years and beyond,” said Erich Peterson, General Manager of Woodlands Water. “As The Woodlands celebrates its 50th anniversary, we are at a point where infrastructure that has served us well for decades will require attention. We need the community to weigh in on how we move forward.”
The initiative will ultimately outline a broad project plan for reinvestment and modernization of water and wastewater infrastructure. The plan will include infrastructure projects from both Woodlands Water and the SJRA that aim to support the community’s growth and evolving needs. Projects will also serve to address service interruptions and system failures.
“Timing is everything,” emphasized Bob Lux, President of the Board of Trustees of Woodlands Water, “We know that delaying critical infrastructure projects puts communities at risk of increased service disruptions and higher long-term costs. By investing now, we provide a foundation for The Woodlands to remain a premier community, known for its quality of life and reliable services.”
Ongoing communication and public engagement will occur through community meetings and online updates as Water Renewal The Woodlands progresses. Please read about the initiative and sign up for updates at www.waterrenewalthewoodlands.com.
