At Woodlands Water, our commitment to transparent planning and proactive community involvement continues to grow. As part of this effort, we are proud to introduce the Community Working Group (CWG), a dedicated advisory body created to foster meaningful collaboration between The Woodlands community and the Water Renewal partners: your local Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs), Woodlands Water, and the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA).
What is the Community Working Group?
The CWG was established to ensure that the perspectives and priorities of residents are thoughtfully considered throughout the planning and implementation of long-term water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. While the CWG is not a decision-making body, it plays a vital role in enhancing community engagement and transparency throughout the Water Renewal initiative.
Members of the CWG serve as trusted liaisons — listening to their neighbors, bringing questions and feedback to project leaders, and helping clarify key information for the public. Together, they help ensure that infrastructure decisions reflect the values and concerns of the people who live and work in The Woodlands.
A Community-Driven Mission
The CWG’s purpose is to serve as a critical link between residents and water planning partners. Specifically, the group is tasked with:
- Providing community feedback on proposed projects and policy options
- Sharing accurate information to promote transparency and understanding
- Supporting community listening efforts, helping residents stay informed and heard
- Explaining funding discussions, including potential impacts on water rates or taxes
- Raising awareness of current and upcoming infrastructure efforts
Through these efforts, the CWG helps ensure Water Renewal The Woodlands is built on a foundation of collaboration, education, and trust.
Who’s Involved?
The CWG is made up of approximately 20 individuals who represent the diverse backgrounds and interests of The Woodlands. Members include:
- Local business and community leaders
- Representatives from Village Associations
- MUD officials
- The Woodlands Township representatives
- Subject matter experts
- Residents with a strong interest in water infrastructure issues
This cross-section of voices ensures that all viewpoints are given space at the table.
Why It Matters
Water infrastructure may be largely invisible to the eye, but it’s essential to our everyday quality of life. From reliable water delivery to responsible wastewater treatment, the systems we invest in today will shape the community we live in tomorrow. With the CWG in place, residents of The Woodlands have a direct, meaningful way to engage with this process.
